Are DO schools more strict about their English requirement than MD schools? Does it have to be an english composition course if I've taken a quarter of english and 2 quarters of writing intensive courses? I work full-time so I don't have a lot of time to go back to school to take more English classes.

It seems like MD schools are pretty lenient with taking writing intensive courses as substitutes. Dunno if DO schools are the same. Am I screwed if I don't have a year of english for most DO schools?

It's going to school dependent and likely case by case.

Did you contact them yet?

No I'm planning on applying in a later cycle, but I don't realistically have time to go back and take two more english classes. I don't know how receptive they'd be to emails asking about their prereqs prematurely. Idk I guess I just assumed that the english requirement would be a bit more lax than the hard science requirements.

Guess I'll just pray they're lenient when it comes time to apply.

Anyone else face this problem though? The two writing classes I'm hoping pass the english requirement are a history class and literature class (not english department though...)

They won't have any issue with that question. Prerequisite questions are some the most common I see people here contacting schools about. The worst they can say is you have to have it. It's not going to have any effect on you applying (assuming you are cordial).
