Hey guys,

Sorry, I know this has been posted a thousand times, but this seemed case specific.

Looking to fulfill my second semester English requirement for med school. Thinking about taking a class at U-Mich called Chem 353. It's titled "introduction to biochemical research techniques and scientific writing". It's basically biochem lab in addition to writing papers on biochem related stuff.

This does fulfill Michigan's upper level writing requirement.

My questions is, will med schools accept this as my second semester English course? Or do they need to see a class specifically labeled "English XXX"

Thanks for the help.

This will be school dependent and may depend on how it appears on your transcript (if it lists the full title, you might be able to argue it's a writing class). Some schools will probably want a bonafide English class.

Moving to PreAllo.

It will be school-specific because some schools only require courses that are writing-intensive whereas other schools like Cornell specifically state they want one writing-intensive course in the humanities or social sciences and another focused on English literature.
