Enough Research?

So I will have 1.5 years of bench research, plus hopefully a summer internship during the application cycle. Not sure about presentations/publications. Is this sufficient for the research giants, or should I wait a year to improve GPA's, get more research under my belt, etc. (GPA's right now are cGPA/sGPA --3.8/3.74). Let me know your thoughts on when to apply & chances.

1.5 years of research is a good amount if your goal is MD, you might need more if you want MD/PhD. Also a publication will help a lot as it might wow the Adcoms and make you a more competitive applicant.

I'd like to bump this, because I'm in a similar boat and would like an answer. I'm thinking 1.5 may be a bit light for the research giants...but can this time deficit be overridden by a publication?
