Hi all,

I'm looking for that "Cinderella" state: the one that will let you sit for the EPPP before post-doc is complete AND the state's application fee (not the EPPP exam fee) doesn't cost an arm and a leg to take it.

Any suggestions/recommendations/words of caution on states to NOT go through?

Thanks!

Bonus if it is one of these states: AK, CA, CO, DC, IL, MA, MN, NC, NM, NY, PA, VA, WA

The cost is the same across states. You can take it during post doc in PA for sure as that is what I did.

You can just take it now in a state that does not require post-doc.

Sorry, I don't think my original post was clear. I'm aware that the cost of the actual exam is the same, but each state has a different application fee in order for the board to recommend you to take it. That's the cost I was referring to!

I am licensed in CO, took the EPPP during postdoc and the cost to obtain and renew is cheaper than a few other states that I’m aware of.

They also process stuff efficiently and are responsive to questions when I’ve had them.

I've heard from people who recently applied through CO that they require you to take the jurisprudence exam first. Is that a new thing or was that your experience, also?

I’d cross-reference this with the actual state board websites, but this link has all the fees: Licensing Fees - ASPPB The Centre
Yes, I'd found that before and had looked at it, but it doesn't seem to be complete and state board websites aren't always the easiest to navigate (some are better than others). I was hoping to get people's perspectives on which states they've had experiences with!

Also in Colorado. I took the EPPP first (before I started my postdoc) and then jurisprudence. This was about a year and a half ago. I don't think there is a requirement that you take one before the other.

Hmm, I just tried signing up and creating an application on their website and it wasn't letting me move forward without reporting a jurisprudence score. I called their office and they said that it recently changed, where applicants are required to take the jurisprudence exam first and report a passing score in order to be eligible to take the EPPP.

I've heard Iowa is easy and know people who took the EPPP during their postdoc.
