Do most equine only practitioners do an internship even if they are not going to apply for a residency? How common is it not to do an internship in equine practice?

From what I've heard, internships are extremely common in equine-specific med, and almost expected in many places. However, this is based on hearsay, so if anyone has more knowledge, feel free to contradict me

It's extremely difficult (nigh impossible) to get a job in most equine practices without an internship year, so it's pretty much an unofficial yet required thing to do.
