Do most equine only practitioners do an internship even if they are not going to apply for a residency? How common is it not to do an internship in equine practice?

From what I've heard, internships are extremely common in equine-specific med, and almost expected in many places. However, this is based on hearsay, so if anyone has more knowledge, feel free to contradict me 😉

It's extremely difficult (nigh impossible) to get a job in most equine practices without an internship year, so it's pretty much an unofficial yet required thing to do.
