hell f no. take it from someone who has been there done that, been a scribe, and been thrown under the bus/train/18 wheeler by careless physicians who signed but never read the notes i wrote for them and then blamed me for having unfavorable documentation when something went wrong. you have nothing to lose at this job except your job. You are only writing a note FOR someone. You are essentially doing a part of THEIR job for them to save them time. Once they sign that note its as if they wrote it. Its no different then if you had a secretary who drafted all your emails then you copy+pasted from his/her computer into your own email account new email composition, edited and sent. It becomes YOUR work. True, people can follow/trace it back to your drafting but you are untouchable from the repercussions of something going wrong because a physician signs off on this and it becomes theirs. If anything actually goes terribly wrong, and odds are you will never be in this situation, they will go after your scribe company only after they go after the physician and after that scribe company fires you and maybe loses their contract with the physician group they are working with.
you are paid too little to even consider taking on more liability then you already have in terms of just performing up to standard to keep your job. Almost all scribe jobs are at will employment and they can fire you for whatever reason whenever they want. You have no benefits. You are likely making minimum wage or just above. Do you really think you need to go out of your way to get insurance when the scribe company you work for probably has their own insurance that is covering you in the unlikely event? Seriously, keep everything you can make because they aren't giving you that much to begin with.
seriously dont even look into this.... focus on doing your job best you can do so physicians like you and dont complain about you or your notes because that would result in you losing your job. and even if you lose a scribe job its not the end of the world as far as med school apps go.. they fire scribes for tons of reasons... even sometimes if a physician just doesnt like you for whatever reason and complains enough you could be fired because the scribe company always has their contracts with the practice group in mind, not the contract they have with you because you are more easily replaceable.
