Hello everyone,

I am just wondering, which classes are essential to finish before taking the DAT(biochemistry, genetics, physiology...?) Thanks.

I believe the only essential classes are gen chem, o chem, and bio. You truly do not need the upper level bio or chem classes to do well on the test and I can say that from experience as I had only taken the above mentioned classes. Of course if you can those upper level classes before your DAT by not delaying the date you take go ahead as without a doubt those classes will help you.
Hope this helps.

When he says G chem, orgo, and bio he means G chem I and II, orgo I and II, and bio I and II. But occasionally they might throw in a question based on a topic you havnt had (esp in bio section) so just be prepared for that. For example, I never had any ecological principles in my bio classes. I had that stuff in ecology. Also we didnt have hardly ANY genetics in my gen bio classes. So its BEST to have taken more than gen bio for the DAT if you ask me, but it can be done.

i was in a post-bacc program, and the only bio classes i took were cell bio and human anat/phys. this covered ~80% of the bio material that was on the DAT... the other stuff was fairly easy to study for on my own e.g. evolution, taxonomy, plants, etc. gen chem I, II and orgo I, II should cover everything that you'll need for their respective sections. 😛
