I'm with you, I start my fellowship in July as well, but I have Tobin's book and have read most of it, I reccomend it, I've learned a lot from it. My CC doc has everyone read Tobin's NEJM article about advances in MV, but I felt like an idiot reading it so I went ahead and got his book. but beyond that, I can't answer your question as to how much that actually affects the day to day other than I am much better at trouble shooting and making fine changes with I:E/flow/etc changes.

Thanks Hernandez nice to know 've got some company out there guess will go ahead and get the book !!

I've been told by a few PICU guys that John West's Essentials of Respiratory physiology is very good. It starts very basic but builds quickly and knowing it inside and out is apparently quite useful, especially when you're talking about ventilating.

the lecture series my first month as a fellow was to basically go through West's lung phys book. the physiology helps understanding the mechanics

Are you guys talking about West's Physiology Book or his Pulmonary Pathophysiology book. I start the PICU in a month so would like to get it to read.
