Hi,
I am not sure if I am considered missouri resident... so I wanted people's opinion!

Here is my situation:
I've gone to college in MO from 2012-2016 (4years) and still living here.
My parents live in Korea.
it has been 3 years since I've rented an apartment to live by myself-- I have started working since October of 2016 as a part-time instructor and since it was part time, I didn't make much money..
when I filed my tax this April, my income for 2016 was about $800...(my parents paid my rent and utilities so I was able to live without making steady income or work at all)
I got a second job recently to make more money so I can file tax again next April.

I got my citizenship last year, and I reported my permanent address as missouri. I registered to vote in missouri, and I've been paying utility and bills all at the missouri address.

I don't drive so I only have learner's permit right now, and I am planning on getting drivers license this October.

Now,
I don't know where I am a resident at.
I am a US citizen so I must be a resident of some state right??
Would I be considered a resident here??

If I am required to prove residency at the time of enrollment (pay tuition), I can prove it by then adhering to all the requirements to prove residency provided by Mizzou office of registrar.
But, if the admission committee asks me to prove residency before secondary applications, I can't....

I didn't know this flow chart existed!! It does look like I am a resident according to this🙂
I'm a MO resident, so feel free to PM me if you have any questions. If nothing else, I can answer any questions about Mizzou for you! Both the med school and Columbia itself.

Addendum: Way to add Mizzou in the title to spread some awareness lol. I've said it to multiple OOS individuals and they all thought I was talking about Mississippi... must not watch a lot of college basketball I presume. It also could've been the accent, but I digress.

MU's website has their minimum requirements.

Missouri Residency Requirements // Office of the Registrar // University of Missouri

For what it's worth, I have a friend who was told after living and filing taxes in MO for 7 years that she was not a resident because her parents did not pay MO state taxes. Not sure how this would work for you though if your parents are not even in the US. Your best bet is to call them and ask.

I think you qualify. Mizzou has their own set of rules that they consider allowable too, which they have on their website. I think you'll be fine. Nice to see a fellow Tiger here!

I tried calling the registrar but I went straight voice mail...
But I'm wondering during when in the application process I will need to provide all the documents to prove residency. My wish is that it is after I am accepted or at the time I pay tuition..:xf:
It says I need to have made at least $2000 during the 12 consecutive months (before med school semester begins????). I still need more time to work to make $2000...I just started the new part time job so hopefully I'll get more shifts soon!!!!
