I'm working on my budget for the next academic year and I'm curious as to how much it costs for general board prep supplies? Uworld/COMBANK/USMLE-rx.

Not taking into account the $1200 for the actual board exam fees. But strictly board prep. How much did you all allocate towards that?

Thanks!

COMBANK you should never pay for yourself, but schools love to buy it, so $0. USMLE-rx is like $130 a year with the various sales they have. Uworld is 400. Sketchy is $200 a year on sale for the whole suite if I remember. Boards and Beyond is like 90 or 100 a year. Pathoma is 100. Kaplan is 150-200 a year. DIT is 700.

I would plan to spend at least $1000 for step 1, and probably half that amount for 2.

The price depends on what you use. UWorld, Pathoma, and Sketchy are a must have. I like Boards & Beyond too for the physiology. The important thing here is to pick only a few resources and stick with them. There's becoming more and more options so it can be overwhelming (COMBank, COMQuest, Savarese, OMG-OMT, Dr. Najeeb, Physeo, Firecracker, Anki, Picmonic, USMLE-rx, Kaplan, DIT, etc.).

First Aid has a section in for review resources, and lists them by grade/usefulness and price if you want a comprehensive list. I would also directly email the companies and see if they offer any student discounts.

Thanks. I guess I didn't specify in the original post, but I already have FA, the entire Sketchy medical and also Pathoma. I have heard that my school is planning to up the board stuff they offer our students for free but I don't know those details. I was mostly curious about the question banks.
