When should you prescribe conjugated estrogens vs synthetic estrogens?

is it essentially synthetic estrogens like ethinyl estradiol are used as OCs and conjugated estrogens like sodium estrone sulfate are used for HRT in post-menopausal women?

Or am I forgetting something here? My notes are poorly organized by the lecturer.
