I'm trying to find the exact date I can ETS/ESA since my obligation should be ending next summer. Apparently nobody in my hospital's records department has any idea what my ETS date is because there are no documents about the obligation that stems from my residency in iPERMS. They told me I could ETS anytime, but that's definitely not true.

Anyone know where to find the exact date you can ESA / ETS? I assume that it should be either mid june or early july, but it would be nice to know the exact date. My ORB just says 888888, and i don't have any orders that have it.

I went around and around with some administrative folks about this very subject a little less than a year ago. The conclusion was that it was the day before I started my internship, so 30 June of 201X. Are there any confounders for you that would make it any different?

Well, my intern class had to report to our base two weeks prior to the start of internship, which counts as active duty time. Also, my residency graduation was in mid-june. I figure that my ESA date is probably june 30th or july 1st, but it could be in mid-june. Either way, it would be nice to have an official date.

I reported a month early, but I'm fairly certain that time gets lumped in with FYGME. As you know, that time neither fulfills nor incurs obligation. They basically got two free weeks out of you, if you care to think of it that way.

I think the date of graduation is immaterial. Your residency does not officially end until 30 June. I know the head of GME at my training hospital really hated it when graduating residents were permitted to leave even a week early for their first assignment. Her belief was that they hadn't completed their training until the end of June.

Either way, it would be nice to have an official date.

Your best bet may be to contact your career manager, if you haven't tried that already.

In the Navy we sign a bonus every year after internship during our GMO time. So we end up being obligated until 01JUL the year we get out

MASP, and hopefully you're signing it effective on 1 July. It obligates you for 365 days, meaning it should not appreciably change an ETS date. Perhaps the operative issue is, if it only obligates you for an additional 1-2 weeks, would you be able to make up that $15K in bonus money with civilian income over the same time period?
