Even DOs putting us down

Can I just say that that brand awareness campaign was, eh... Not so great. Marketing people 🙄

Somewhere there is a DO pathologist tearing his hair out over this.

They're right there in the comment section of that article. Don't know what they were thinking with that ad campaign. Modern medicine would be a shell of itself without the lab. What's next, saying MRI's don't detect tumors, DO's do??

I think most DO pathologists are rolling their eyes. While the ASCP states the issues is being "resolved" [per below], it's still demonstrative of the dysfunction of the AOA--remember, this is the DO equivalent of the AMA...which would never put out something so ridiculous. Would like to think it was non-medical ad people that created this, but someone with a DO behind his/her name still signed off on it.

From ASCP:
"While the AOA’s intent was to promote the visibility of osteopathic medicine rather than diminish the role of the lab team, the lab-related ads will be discontinued after March 2016. The AOA also plans to re-evaluate the entire campaign in May 2016. Going forward, ASCP and the AOA plan to explore ways the organizations can collaborate toward our shared goal of improving patient care."
