Stole this list from SwampMan's thread, where Joseph Reses made the suggestion that everyone list their schools' FAFSA codes. Thought maybe more people would join in if the thread title was more explicit.

Albany: G02887 (s)
Arizona: 001083 (ns)
Emory: 001564 (ns)EVMS: 010338 (there is no undergrad, to my knowledge)
Florida: 001535 (ns)
MCV/VCU: 003735 (ns)
SLU: E00318 (s)
UCLA: E00374 (s)
USA: 001057 (ns)
USF: E00568 (s)
UWSOM: 003798 (ns)

C'mon, folks! Where's that old SDN list-making spirit? :D

school codes can be found at <a href="http://www.ed.gov/offices/OSFAP/Students/apply/search.html" target="_blank">http://www.ed.gov/offices/OSFAP/Students/apply/search.html</a>

That search engine's a great idea, but it doesn't work very well. I couldn't get it to give me the codes for UWSOM or OHSU, no matter what I typed in, and for Albany it gave 2 codes, and if I hadn't received their financial aid packet, I would have had no idea which one to use.

SMW, if you still need the code for OHSU it is: 004883.
Good luck on your interviews! :) :)
Rob

I agree, while I could find most of my schools, no matter what you typed in for George Washington it couldn't find it. So I went to the GW med website and found it. I will post it later when I get home.

When you're looking for the FAFSA code for GW, don't type the city. When you just type:

School: George Washington University
City: (empty)
State: District of Columbia

You get three results (undergrad, med, law). Click the med and they give you the code. I hope this helps. I wish I had the number with me...so I can type here.

Adding Chicago and P6's OHSU (Oregon?)

Albany: G02887 (s)

South Alabama: 001057 (ns)
South Florida: E00568 (s)
UWSOM: 003798 (ns) &lt;--Washington or Wisconsin?

what's this ns vs. s business?

Thanks, guys!! :D Keep those codes coming. I need to finish my FAFSA as soon as I get home (in the day and a half before I fly off again to Philly).

Hey, anyone know the code for USC or Boston U. So far, I think that they do not have a seperate code for the school of medicine? The codes I found were `001328(USC) and 002130 (Boston U). Correct me if I'm wrong :) Thanks guys.

C'mon, guys, help out!! I just spent quite a while looking on school websites and only found 2 out of 9 that I was looking for. Adding George Washington and Wake Forest. Gotta get on another plane. I'd like to add my other schools I'm intereviewing at to FAFSA when I get back. Anyone know the codes for Jefferson, MCPH, SLU, Rochester, or Tufts? Are those codes that bacl0007 found for Boston U. and USC (Keck) right? Someone must have these codes from the respective schools' financial aid packets. Pretty please............ :)

Thanks, mpp! You always come through! :) See, the reason I have so many posts is that I post even on interview trips!!! :D Those with SMW #-of-posts-envy, take note!! :p

Anyway, I just made an ASTOUNDING discovery while sitting here waiting to go out to dinner with my host.
********** ALL THE FAFSA CODES ARE IN THE MSAR!!!!! ********** Don't have time to post them all now. Hmmmmm......maybe even I won't have time for that! Plus there's this great chart that gives all the info on which schools want what on FAFSA and/or other forms and when they want it.

Am I the only one who didn't know all this was in the MSAR?

•SMW....1756 posts... dude, you need to get a hobby! I can imagine you at your interviews, when they ask you what you do in your spare time...•••••Well, I'm not in school (graduated last June), am not working much (I'm substitute teaching but just got hired and haven't worked much because of interview trips), and so have spent almost full time on my apps since taking the August MCAT. I don't feel too guilty, because the last time I had a summer off was after my freshman year. When I'm not on SDN, bird-dogging my apps, interviewing, filling out FAFSA, etc. I play keyboards and flute in a rock band. Ah, life is good! :D

Plus, as I mentioned elsewhere, I post even during interview trips!! I really am addicted! Also, I feel like I wouldn't have been nearly as successful with my application as I've been without all the help and advice I've received from SDNers, and I like to return the favor. :)

Hmmmmm......maybe even I won't have time for that! Plus there's this great chart that gives all the info on which schools want what on FAFSA and/or other forms and when they want it. •••••OK, now that I've told you this, I have to clear up a confusing thing that comes up when you look up the codes in the MSAR. Some of the codes have a numerical suffix at the end of them, like -00 or -01. And some give a second number. I was having my Mom call the FAFSA folks for me and add more schools, and she called the schools first to find out what the deal was with that. Just ignore the suffixes and second numbers is what she was told. Also, don't freak out when your original 6 schools disappear from the app. The schools will still be able to access the info, even though you can't see them on the app any more.

Oh, and Mt. Sinai's code is wrong in the MSAR, it's G07026, NOT 007026 as the MSAR states. But I'm sure you would discover that when you typed the wrong number in on FAFSA and the correct school name did not come up.

•••quote:•••hey i have an MSAR that is a couple years old. do you think the FAFSA codes are still the same? ••••I would think so, but you can double check on the FAFSA school codes search engine link that's given somewhere in this thread. Plus, as I said, if you type the wrong number into the app, and the wrong school comes up, you have the option of editing.

And we thought we were all done with everything but the waiting..............

Adding a bunch more. I've got to turn in soon. Still kind of jet-lagged. My interview in the morning at MCPH is at 8:00 :( Why can't they start at 11:00 like Jeff did?

While you are wasting your time dissing cooperative future colleagues, people like SMW are going OUT OF THEIR WAY to help out strangers. This type of quality is required of a future doctor. I resent your tone JohnM. :p If it weren't for SMW, many of us would be lost right now. The thread you were probably reading to get help on your FAFSA was started by her!

C'mon, daredevil, stop procrastinating! :p

I'm working on it RIGHT NOW, since I have several schools whose financial aid deadline is March 1st, which is tomorrow (or an hour from now)

OMG I forgot to do my FAFSA!!!! Stupid financial aid forum that I don't check and now have no reminders!!!!! Damn, no dinero para mi!

I am the Queen of Procrastination

so what happens if we miss the deadlines? (looks like I've missed Vermont (feb!)and Temple (March), 2 out of 4 schools I have interviews with)

Just work on it ASAP, like now and this weekend.. Funds should still be available for those who submitted late.

Dr. Foxy, are you sure Vermont's deadline is Feburary? When in Feb? Cuz if it is I'm Fu(ked as well!

grind.. GRIND!! oh, and Bump too

HELLO!!! use the online fafsa.....so easy to use and you can get the codes easily from the online version!!!!!

Yes, you can use the online fafsa search - but it is a pain in the a$$ - since some schools have different undergrad and med school codes and they don't always both show up when doing a search. With this list, we're making it easier for everyone who comes after us.
