Hey guys! April 30th is around the corner and I am still conflicted on which school to choose. I would like to hear your thoughts! I am out of state to both schools btw

EVMS
- ~61k tuition
- lower COL
- students there seem happy
- community service is huge!
- has more home residencies (interested in ENT if I wanna do something competitive)
- Next to a level 1 trauma hospital and a children’s hospital
- Norfolk seems slow (locals love it, others call it “very okay”)

Drexel
- ~71K tuition with higher COL
- Philly is awesome, city living in your 20s sounds epic
- Higher name recognition (I live in GA and people know this school)
- Match list impressive
- More for research and networking with Penn, Jeff, and Temp
- Also community driven
- No home field advantage though (RIP HUH)
- Rotations scattered around PA, NJ, DE, etc
- Double the class size (300 vs 150), potential con

I would like to hear your guy’s thoughts on this. Also, what are the odds of getting off the waitlist to Temple and MCG? How do they compare to the schools above?

I’d go to EVMS, since it’s cheaper, has NBME, and a reliable home hospital (unless you’re going to Reading).

The truth is, where you train (residency) is far more important than where you attend Medical School. Yes, there are exceptions. Like if you attended a Medical School on "Karplakastan Island of Mardolvia" you might be pre-judged. However, both Drexel and EVMS are good schools. Drexel looks more prestigious on paper but EVMS has an excellent ENT residency. They don't produce "general ENTs" at EVMS. They have an elite stock of attendings and patient volume at Norfolk General brings it all. You will cut! That being said, there may be some value in attending a medical school that has a great training program for your specialty.
