To the gurus of the forum

I'm in All 3. I want to do research (prolly will switch into M.D/PhD track). And I am confused.

Please help me choose where to goo!

pros/cons, experiences, any comments. Anything that'll help me gain a better perspective is welcome.

Thanks guys

Ugh.

If you want to do research in a particular area then go to the school with the strongest program in that area.

Unless you want to do hardcore basic research, I'd strongly considering sacking the MD/PhD idea, going to the cheapest school and doing a research fellowship between M2 and M3 years. Depending on your specialty choice, there are fast-track research heavy residencies in various fields.

I did a PhD and then went to med school and, well, let's just say I wish I'd done things a little differently. PM me for (depressing) details and impassioned advice.

If you want greater research opps, go to SLU. Its actually ranked by us news (#62) and the SLU hospital is also ranked. The other two are not ranked. As for clinical education, you will get that no matter where you go.

Sentara Norfolk General (EVMS Hospital) is ranked in heart/heart surg and urology....but SLU is prob best if your interests lie heavily in research.
