Has anyone applied to EVMS SMP and had applied after taking January MCATs (for the first time, not a retake) and got accepted?
Mine is on Sept 12... but i don't know if it will be high enough.
Well, wait and see what you get before deciding what to do. But applying late won't kill your chances. I applied extremely late (a few weeks before the deadline) and I still got in, but not until late July. Applying early is always your best shot.
Does anyone know if EVMS Smp will let you sit in the class if i don't get into the smp year. I wanted to move there later in the year and just see how the classes were. I won't show up for tests of course but thought since i have to wait a whole other year, might as well be in the environment until i get in.
Truth!! Especially since its not like a guarantee that you are going to be accepted. Just applying doesn't guarantee anything and if this was possible so would lots of students be doing this. So no I highly doubt it.
Besides almost every single medical school I've ever been to including small old LECOM Bradenton DO school in my hometown have some of the tightest security around. USF actually has some of the laxest security I've seen but at BU, Drexel, LECOM B there are security guards at the entrance to the med school. USF has cops on campus but its still easy to enter the classroom just not the lounges and lab classrooms.
For the next application cycle you mean??? Yes you'd be considered for the next application cycle for the people who start EVMS BMS in 2010 but they prob. wouldn't start assessing apps til January or February.
I have read something on this thread saying that evms only looks at the gpa from the institution you graduated from and they do not account for grades that you have after graduation. Could anyone verify this?
The waitlist moves a lot.MCAT 30
GPA 3.1, 3.84 over last six semesters
Hampton Roads resident
Waitlisted....
What do I do now?
Both.Do you guys think I should send all these items in with a letter of intent or should I ask for an interview with Dr. Meyer and give it to him while i am there.
Hi everyone! First Post!!!
I've applied to the EVMS Med Masters program for fall 2010-app. was complete on 10/16. Does anyone know what the earliest is that I might hear? I REALLY want to get into this program and was hoping to I could get accepted before the year is out, maybe even earlier. Also, IS helps, right? I'm from VA, 3.0 BCPM/28Q. What do you think my chances are of getting accepted rather than waitlisted first? I'm hoping that being IS and applying super early will help my case...
I got waitlisted as well. I'm in state.
It was weird though because about a week after I received my waitlist letter I got an e-mail from Rose saying that my application was being sent to the committee for review. That was about 5 weeks ago and I haven't heard anything since...
It does not.Anyone know if participation in the program goes toward acheving in-state residency for tuition at the medical school?
I'm thinking that the snowstorm is probably delaying any decisions they are making. Does anyone know if they are still sending acceptances via Fedex this year? Or are they just calling / emailing the wait lists and acceptances?
Just curious, are any of the students at EVMS currently going to class? Or are the snowstorms too dangerous?
EVMS just changed from private to public, so there's increasing IS bias for MD admissions. I'm personally skeptical that the SMP will have the same bias, not for a few more years.Do they put any weight on being IS or OOS?
IS, 3.4, 29R (with 8 in bio)
file complete 3/1. got acceptance letter 3/5 by snail mail
good surprise to come back to over spring break =)

yayy congrats! r u defnitly going? i got accepted too and wanted to visit the school before i make my final decision
I was considering applying, but am a little worried about my chances...
I have a 3.05 overall, 2.97 sGPA, and 29MCAT
graduated from a top tier school
I've been 2 years out of undergrad, and have pretty good clinical experience....
Is it wise for me to apply at this point...
also wondering about the personal statement...
I know there's a 500 word limit, so what's the most important information to include... why the program specifically fits us, or why we would be a good candidate for the program?
Thanks for the help
