I did the first two passages

I got 11/13 correct total. I am happy but also cautious, is EK considered easy than Real MCAT verbal ??

Most people say their EK 101 averages are very close to their real MCAT. I have found the passages to be more interesting, and thus an easier read but I tend to disagree on some of their "correct" answers

I think the EK 101 questions are a little more off-the-wall than AMCAS passages are sometimes. Though it can be hard to choose the correct answer on AMCAS tests, with EK I sometimes felt that even with their answer explanations it was a little ambiguous why one answer was more correct than another. EK passages, however, are definitely shorter than AMCAS passages. If you want a 10+ I would shoot to missing no more than 1-2 on average on EK passages, which it sounds like you're doing, so good job!

For me, the challenge in EK passages came from answering their tricky ambiguous questions. But the challenge in AAMC passages came mostly from trying to comprehend the passage. EK passages were easier to understand, I actually enjoyed a bunch of them but the questions are very tough.

Easier. Averaged a 12.46 on EK's, AAMC practice exam3,5,6--> 10.1 (obviously I am just one sample but you get the point)

Is it possible that they are just different than the AAMC passages and possible shifts in scores isn't due to difficulty?

LOL, I thought I was the only one who felt that way. TPRH Verbal was more similar to the AAMC in terms of style. One can definitely notice the difference when they switch from EK 101 to TPRH for verbal practice.

No.

No, that response is too rational.

Cool. I've actually been getting nervous when I hear people say that EK is easier. EK questions kill me. I've done a few AAMC passages and they just feel different.

its not that the passages itself or the questions are easier. Its the topics.

Most EK passages are somewhat interesting and they can keep you on track. But the AAMC test passages are dense, more abstract, and more articulate. Hence, its easier to just read the passage rather than understand it as well.

Most of EK passages are very, very different from those on AAMC tests and the real test. EK's are easier and more interesting to read. AAMC questions are a little easier though. All in all, I think AAMC passages are harder than EK. However, difficulty is very subjective.

Ibn are you re-applying this year or taking one off?

I found the ek101 passages significantly easier than AAMC passages. My scores backed those feelings up.

I did every EK passage and found the answers slightly more ambiguous than the real test. I actually averaged around a 7 on verbal and no matter what I did I couldn't increase it. On the real test I got a 10 in verbal. I remember during the 5 minute break after the MCAT verbal section thinking how easy I thought the section was, easy to the point where it scares you that you must have missed something in every passage.

However, I don't think EK goes in depth enoigh in the physics/chem subjects. I found the real PS section significantly harder than any EK passage. I averaged 12+ on all EK physical science exams but fell short on Exam day

Easier, mainly due to the real exam having longer and boring passages.

That is a very valid point. With EK my PS score was not going over a 9. I started using TBR for PS and my scores easily jumped > 12 in less than 2 weeks. On the real deal I ended up with a 12 too.

Haha, that's certainly part of it. I also thought the EK questions and answers elicited the "BS!" reaction from me more often, but to be honest I questioned a lot of the AAMC VR answers as well. I didn't find doing EK passages helped at all, but I did find doing the AAMC FL verbal passages helped.
