So I have ExamKrackers 101 Verbal Passages 2nd edition, and I just did the warm-up section. It's 3 passages w/ an answer key afterwards. I'm concerned that the last few answers are incorrect, and the answer key has 18 questions while there are actually only 17 questions, which again makes me wonder if the answers match up correctly.

Can anyone with this book verify this??

Uggh don't get me started on this book. It is riddled with errors. The answer key box that precedes every passage explanation in the back often directly contradicts the answers within. Then to top it off, there are some discrepancies with the answers themselves. The errata forum on EK's website is a joke.

I just checked my book and I see what you're talking about... it's the damn answer key box again. Just use the explanations to score your test. As an example, the answer key box on the warm-up passages give the following for the 3rd passage in the warm-up:
13. C
14. B
15. D
16. C
17. B
18. A

Now the actual warm-up passage 3 doesn't go up to 18. These are the answers according to the explanations:
13. C
14. B
15. D
16. B
17. A

Notice how the answers are shifted at #16 (like a base-pair insertion/frameshift mutation 😉). This type of thing is common with all of their answer key boxes. It's super frustrating. I don't even like reading their answer explanations half the time, because I don't want to put too much emphasis on their question set-up and logic. I think the most value EK 101 provides is the passages themselves. It's just extra stuff to read to condition your mind. Other than that, I'm not sure I hold it in very high esteem. Anyway, good luck.

The EK 101 VR book is good on a price-to-performance level but it does leave a few things to be desired.

If you're looking for more verbal practice, remember to pick up the AAMC VR Self Assessment Package. It's only 20 passages, but you should def. do them.
