What sort of exams does everyone's school do?

essays/short answer/MCQ/EMQ/case studies or all of the above?

Which do you think is the best?

Multiple choice all the way here. Since I hate writing, I feel this works best for me. Plus its how the boards are set up so win win

So far, all of our exams have been 1/2 multiple choice, and 1/2 practical. In Gross Anatomy, the practical involved identifying tagged structures, in histo we had to identify cell/tissue types, and for our clinical skills course, we perform exams on standardized patients while a physician evaluates our team.

Personally, I think this system works pretty well. It makes sure that we have learned information and also know how to apply it.

We've had multiple choice tests for all of our classes except one that had essays. We worked in groups for that test but it still sucked.

Oh yeah, our gross anatomy practicals were short answers.

Multiple choice for everything except our Ethics/Medical Decisions/etc class which had some short answer question.

Ah, not fair, like half of mine are essay style. Which I hate. In fact I have an endocrine essay exam tomorrow, woe to me!

Besides Clin Med interviews/PD everything is multiple choice just like Step I.

Yep, our exams are designed to be similar to step I. Even the interface!
