Question for you Army Guard/Reserve folks - does anyone know what happens if you exceed the 90 day BOG policy? I.e. is it just the way orders are written on the front end or do units actually get in trouble for holding us past 90 days?
I ask because I just finished my first deployment to CENTCOM, and my S1 could not get a theatre release letter signed for weeks - when they finally did they said your flight home is going to be 2 weeks past your 90 days and that there was nothing they could do. I managed to squeeze myself and my dentist onto a rotator flight literally day 90 so we got super lucky, otherwise we would have had to get all our orders amended since we would not have been able to demob in time.
A COL told me that if we go over 90, the a 1 star starts asking questions, but I don't get the feeling that would actually have happened. I know during COVD folks were held past their 90 days without recourse. Anyone have any experiences on this?
