Hey, guys,

What are some excellent extracurriculars that kids have who get in to top 20 med schools in terms of,

1.) clincial experience
2.) just general clubs/activties and organizations.

thanks

Top 20.....RESEARCH schools, are you referring to? They're going to be focused on research, obviously. Are you planning on academic medicine?

For clinical experience though, you should have something on your AMCAS that shows you had direct contact with patients in a role that placed responsibility on you for their care. For student orgs, you should have organizations that you were interested in, participated in, and ideally took a leadership role in if it was that important to you. There are cultural groups (Muslim, Asian/Pacific American, etc.), special interest groups (music, computers, student newspaper), Greek organizations, public interest (Habitat for Humanity, PIRGs), and of course, pre-med student orgs. Don't join one because you think you should - join it because you'll make the most of the experience.
