Hi All, I am a new kid in the block. As we all know, Physician have consistently been rated as one of the sexiest profession, but I am wondering about their romantic life while they are med student and resident.

A couple of my friends are about to entering medical school this coming fall, and I am applying for medical school for fall 2007. I heard a lot of complaint about complete lack of time for both relationship and caual hookup for medical student.
Is it that serious? I realized by the time I become a licensed doctor, I would be past my 30. And concern about having too little relationship experience by the time I become a doctor. I really can't imagine the dearth of s** life for next 10 years. Can anyone provide input about their personal life for another physican wannable?

Hey there! I think the type of love life you have depends on the type of person you are. When I started med school, I had been dating a guy in undergrad for 4 years. He's in FL and I'm in NC; I thought the distance may have been a problem but we both spent the time and money to make it work and we are now engaged and planning our wedding. A lot of people in my class hooked up with each other or people they had met outside of school. Some people in my class, however, ended relationships because of school. So like I said before, it's really dependent on what you want and what you are willing to sacrifice.

The people who were casually hooking up before med school are still casually hooking up--perhaps with the exception of those that grow up a little.

Does USNews have sexy profession rankings now? I would imagine that movie star or pop muscian would have beaten out unfit, unstylish, poorly kept scutmonkey, but what do I know?

Pretty much. And those who weren't hooking up in undergrad, dont expect anything different in med school.

Agreed to all above, and remember, most chicks want a doctor, not a medical student. They know the difference(4+ yrs and $$$$$$$). So if you want fast easy chicks become a movie star, and play a doctor on TV.

Don't forget, there's a big difference between a resident and attending as well.

I have one funny question, after having dissection and physical check-up for thousands of women, would physician lose interested in women in a physical sense?

It's probably from all the medical TV shows on TV. People think doctors are like that.

Well, not dissection. I can tell you that I'm still horny.

Yeah.

Unless you saw like super hot people all day...wait, that would probably make your hornier. Unless you saw extremely ugly people all day, I don't think it will be a problem.

DISCLAIMER: please take my comment as motivation

If you actually spent time to open a thread to address this, chances are that you haven't gotten laid or hardly ever gotten laid. You are hoping this would change in med school. To be honest with you, unless you grow some balls, take care of yourself physically, stop playing video games all the time, and build some damn confidence, you are going to be in the same poor shape if not worse when you get to medical school. Just so you know and so you can stop having false hope; Doctors aren't sexy, sexy doctors are sexy. goodluck

Since when is sex a censorable word?

Also heed my advice... medical school will not help you in the ladies (or guys)department! Medical students who do well with members of the opposite sex would have done well had they gone into another profession/training. If you're a lonesome loser (like I was) before medical school, now you will just be a lonesome loser who has even less time to "play the field," has to study quite a bit, and can't even attract gold diggers yet because you're not being paid diddly and you may even be in the red with loans!

I'll ditto pretty much everything said above...however, if you were able to hook it up before it certainly doesn't hurt to add "medical student" into the mix of things to talk about. At least for your first two years you'll have time to pick up on pre-med chicks in bars and volunteering at the hospital. Third year...forget about it...fourth year...its back on, after that, I'll let you know when I find out.

A word of advice...keep your dick out of anything you go to school with or works (an actual job) in the hospital.

i remember hearing on the radio that doctors and lawyers have the fewest sex partners of any profession!!!! if you think about it, this really shouldn't surprise you....seeing how socially adept, and smooth talking most docs are...NOT!!!

and then they said bartenders get laid the most..i believe it

"and then they said bartenders get laid the most..."

yap, one of my friend, he drop out of High school and ended up with GED, but he worked as bartender, all the girls would ask for his number. But then he's good looking stud himself.

A lot of my friends said I am good looking, but then I am too shy, i have a serious relationship before, but I turned down several hook-up requests from decent lookig women. I am not intended to use my MD to attract women, I am genuinely interested in helping people and saving life. I just don't want to be a 30 something MD with relatively little dating/relationship experience and clueless when it come to women.
