Expectations in medical school?

If I decide to go into medicine (still a possibility) I will obviously apply to medical school. Granted I get in, what would be expected of me? Are students at x state school med school and students at y ivy league med school held to the same standards?

I'm not sure what you maen by "what is expected of you." Its just like college in teh sense that you control what you do. You are expected to learn the material and prepare for a career in medicine. However you choose to do that is up to you. Whether it be going to class, not going to class, reading on your own, joining a study group, etc. I'm not sure if you were lookign for more depth than that, but the reason med schools accept people is because they expect them to do well, to keep up their academic record, and to prepare for a career in medicine.

All US med schools have the same standards. How students are taught will differ from school to school ie systems based, traditional lecture, problem based learning...but at the end of the 2nd year every medical student in the country will be taking the same exact test. The standards are the same.

Be weary of thea answers to your last question. You are on a high school, pre med forum. No one has any basis for comparison because no one has been to law school, business school, or med school. You are just going to be hearing opinions based on what someone heard someone say about somebody's uncle who went to law school but then went to med school and said that med school was harder, etc. etc. So, i dont really think this is the place to get a legitiamte answer to that question. Each type of schools is specific to the trade the students will be going in to.

You should learn the same stuff wherever you are, as ryserr said how it's taught will vary between schools.

I think the previous posts on this thread answer your first questions much better than I can, so I'm not going to even try to improve on that. However, for this question, I cannot speak firsthand for actual med school vs. an MBA program, but I can speak for the undergraduate experience in both fields. I am a senior Pre-Vet student (which has many similar requirements as that of Med School) and am also a Business Major. In my opinion (and please note its just my opinion so take it with a grain of salt), the business classes I have taken are easier than the majority of the science classes I have taken. In many business classes it seems to me that you can "figure out" answers, a lot of it seems to make logical sense and is a lot more common sense than most of the science classes. For example, deciding something such as what is the best marketing strategy for a company is possible to do simply by thinking and figuring out what makes the most logical sense, while something like which molecule produces the best yield via biomolecular dehydration is something you cannot figure out without a certain amount of specific organic chemistry knowledge.
