Hello everyone,
I am a current third year family medicine resident, who went to a Caribbean med school (St. George's). I am going to be practicing medicine in NYS, and will be applying for a NYS license. Unfortunately, since I went to a foreign med school, I must wait until closer to the end of residency to apply. I have taken all of my step exams (applied for step 3 through Connecticut for ease of scheduling), and will be taking my Family Medicine Boards in April.
I want to get my license asap after graduation, as I have a job secured, and have massive student loans to pay back. I was wondering if there was anything I can do now in order to expedite this process as much as possible. Are there forms or documents I can begin turning in? I have nobody to help guide me through this process, as all of the foreign grads in my program are Canadian, and return to Canada upon their residency completion. If you guys can offer any advice or break down of what will need to be done, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks so much!!

Joe
