Killing a fellow student got this guy expelled. And made the school extremely twitchy regarding reports of tension between classmates.
Funny where the killer lived: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Franklin_Lakes,_New_Jersey

According to the article: http://abclocal.go.com/wpvi/story?section=news/local&id=4553291
Nader Ali attacked Lea Sullivan, 25, in front of a supermarket on a bustling street on a Sunday afternoon in November 2004, striking her at least 12 times with a baseball bat.

Sullivan, a third-year student at Jefferson Medical College, never regained consciousness, and died the next day.

Ali had been a student at the school, but was on medical leave at the time of the killing. In June, a jury found him guilty of first-degree murder but mentally ill.

I was actually very curious about the continuation of the story but didn't look it up. Thanks.

I initially thought it was 2 medical students interacting on the same rotation, Seems to not be the case as one was an MS-3 the other was on leave after MS-2.

Edit: This explains it more clearly, @Anastomoses, http://statecasefiles.justia.com/do...uperior-court/1660-eda-2012.pdf?ts=1361550165, "Appellant ultimately decided that [victim] was the evil incarnation of a Kabbalistic sage."

Seems to be a guy like girl, girl doesn't like guy, guy kills girl scenario.

Jeez, reads like a behavioral science clinical vignette.

Note to self: always err on the side of caution.

Remember that next time you're quizzing someone on Acetylcholine or scanning their mucous membranes before kissing them.
