I have several years to think about this but I was wondering if anyone has any first hands experience with deploying with the Marines or the Seabees (especially the Mobile Utilities Support Equipment). If so, what was it like? Did you enjoy your experience (would you do it again)? Do you have the opportunity to learn the basics in weapons training and tactics?

It should be noted that I already have the Navy HPSP scholarship.

If you pick up orders with the Seabees as a dentist, you will be the battalion dentist for an NMCB (Naval Mobile Construction Battalion) out of either Port Hueneme, CA or Gulfport, MS. As a battalion dentist, you will be considered part of the officer staff and will be required to go to all field training exercises with the battalion. You have the opportunity to earn your Seabee Combat Warfare pin, which includes weapons familiarization and some tactical exposure.
