Explaining W's

Some of my secondaries ask about W's and I had one for an intro to bio class. I had a grandparent pass and decided to take a lighter course load to cope. Would this be an acceptable explanation?

Yes, loss of family is considered fully acceptable. You don't need to elaborate, just say what you just said in a formal professional manner. AdComs aren't heartless, they understand

I think that is more than an acceptable answer. Most people just take a W because they were going to fail.
