This semester I am interning (only 50 hours) with my old biomechanics instructor. Outside of class he analyzes various linear and angular movements of people, which is what I'll be assisting with. This internship will be used to count towards internship hours that are necessary for my major. Would you still list this internship as an extra curricular activity or not since it is counting towards my units to graduate?

I would say no. It's a required part of the curriculum so it's not really extracurricular. I could be wrong though. I'm interested to see what the group has to say. I'm completing an internship right now myself.

If it's for credit or somehow listed in your transcript then I wouldn't add it. If it isn't listed in your transcript though then I'd list it since otherwise the pt school doesn't have any way of knowing you did it..

There is a possibility that I go over the fifty hours at the internship that will be on my transcript. Let's say I do 75 total. Would I then only list 25 hours for extra curricular? If so, would a 25 hour internship look weird on my application?

I don't see how that could really hurt you. I would unless I already had so much listed that it just looked like overkill. But it's all sort of a gray area. I honestly don't think most places put a huge amount of emphasis on the extracurricular anyways. It's harder to rank people based on those.

I would probably just put it, so you can at least put the brief (175 character) description of what you did. But that's just me. Honestly it probably is not a game changer either way.

Also, extracurricular is one word.

I think it is fine to include it. It's something that you want to highlight and if you just assume it falls under coursework, the admissions committee would not know about it. Just because you did something for course credit does not mean it should not be included in other parts of your application.

ETA: I received internship course credit for my job as a research assistant. I am listing this under the employment section since I was paid.

Same here, although I volunteered in the lab for a few months before I actually worked there so I put a certain number of hours under extracurriculars and then included in the employment section, for what it's worth.
