Extra Curriculars

I'm currently a freshman at a four year, planning to apply my third year. I'm doing well so far with my courses, but my extra curriculars are rather lacking.. pretty much none.

Besides shadowing/clinical experience (how much of each should I have before I apply?), what else should I be involved in?

To the poster below: I currently have a 3.75, 3.8 science, which I think is pretty good. I find myself having some spare time after the coursework. Just trying to get ideas for things I can get involved in.

worry about EC's once you have some solid grades. They don't call them "Extra" curriculars for nothing.
