I am submitting a committee letter and for my school's committee I had to have individual letters of recommendation by last March. At work, however, I've been working directly with a physician on a project and I think he could write a strong recommendation. Is it possible to send the committee letter initially and then add an individual letter later on (like in July or August)? I know it may vary for schools

Absolutely but check the letter requirements for individual schools (MSAR is helpful with this). Many schools consider a committee letter to count as a single letter so you should be good. Make sure the additional letter adds something unique to your application other than the title of the person writing it. An additional letter may be even more helpful if you have interviewed at some schools by that point

EDIT: if it's July/August the last part doesn't really apply but I would still go for it if it adds to your application
