Extra Loan before entering school

My question is, if want to take an additional loan out to pay off a credit card balance, (flying around the country, AMCAS, etc...)

a)is it best to wait until fin aid package is received, or approach bank now

b)what rate can I reasonably expect to get from a private lender (experian 850)

c)what other options are there that I may be unaware of?

I'd wait for private loans if you are going that route. And with a credit score that high you should get a pretty good rate depending on the lender. Definitely sub 8% I would guess.
