According to their websites, some programs are willing to accept additional letters (presumably in addition to the 4 that are accepted on ERAS) via email. Does anyone know if we can email them letters that are uploaded onto ERAS? Or do we have to go through our school registrar?

Thanks!

If you're asking: "Is there some way to email letters from ERAS directly to programs via email?", the answer is no. If programs want more letters (God have mercy on their souls, what are they thinking?), then you will need to directly email the letters to them. If you don't have copies of the letters because you waived your rights to them, then they will need to be sent by your Dean's office (or whomever handles your letters) and/or from the letter writer themselves.

I've always read those pages as "we are willing to accept more letters," not "you SHOULD send more letters."

You didn't write a 5 page personal statement because brevity is best--you want to communicate what you're trying to get across in as few words as possible because at a certain point everyone's eyes start to glaze over. In the same way, why would you want to inundate programs with redundant letters? What is the 5th letter really going to say that wasn't covered in the first 4?

haha that's a really good point. i guess that extra LOR will just have to remain unread in the ERAS postoffice then.
