I am applying this cycle. I am not sure how important my current extracurriculars are? I am trying to decide if I should continue biochemistry research or start working as medical assistant (where I would be getting payed)? I already submitted my application but schools will not get my MCAT tell August 30th, so there will be some time before interviews (hopefully).

I would say as long as your staying active and dont just sleep and watch Maury you should be good. That is if your EC's are not lacking (i.e.- 1 hour of volunteer experience)

Your current extracurriculars will help give you something to talk about during interviews. You don't want to be the guy who, when asked, quit everything 2 days after submitting AMCAS.

That said, if you've had a full schedule, you can scale back a bit - you've earned it.
