Hi guys, in September i'll be starting third year of university. I plan to take the MCAT next summer and my Canadian (non-AMCAS) gpa is 3.92 right now (not sure how to convert it). I just wanted to get a gauge of how i'm doing on my EC's to see if i should pick up other things this year. Here it is:
City Hospital#1- Book Bus volunteer- going around to the patient's rooms, talking with them, getting to know their stories, offering them stuff to read (40hours)
City Hospital#2-Cardiac Wellness centre- motivating patients recovering from cardiac events to exercise, helping with form, checking heart rates and blood pressure (rest is housekeeping duties) - 40 hours
Medical Clinic-pulling files, making calls, faxing, leading patients to their room, cleaning the rooms, very little interaction with doctors other than a hello - 40 hours
Senior Recreation Centre- again, helping with exercising, motivating, helping with form
Neighborhood Renewal Organization- organizing and facilitating a sports program weekly for underprivileged areas weekly
Research- just starting this summer (2016)- hoping to continue throughout the year
Peer Support Centre- starting in september- counseling and advising students, listening to their problems and trying to help
Youth Mentor- book buddy- helping with reading, 1 hour/week
Shadowing- Starting this summer, hope to have 150 hours from 10-12 Dr's by application time
For Fun: interest in sports and fitness
Any constructive criticism, and advice would be greatly appreciated! What should i add, or do more of?
