Extracurricular Hour Calculations

If I was in a group that traveled during college, should I include travel time in my calculation of hours involved? Specifically, it was a choir, and we would leave early on Saturdays and get back late Sunday, though only a portion of that time was specifically performing or doing other choir-involved things. But I took a lot of time away from school to do this, plus rehearsals, so I feel like also only including the comparatively small amount of performance and rehearsal time doesn't show how much time I was actually giving to the group. If I do include travel time, do I also include the time overnight/sleeping time since I was still away from home, participating in the group?

This might seem like a small thing, but it drastically changes my hours.

Such sass lol. But if asked how much time I sacrificed to my career, I might include my commute time if it was lengthy, right?

The deal breaker to your dental application isnt going to be the 20 hours of driving you could've put into your EC choir experience.
Sorry for more sass, but c'mon, just put what you feel makes sense. This falls under the category of stressing over trivial things.

Lol 🙂. I suppose, but think of it this way. You are making the claim that you had a substantial amount of time taken away from your education due to driving/sleeping away from home resulting from a voluntary, fun activity. And now you want to boost the hours in your application and claim that you were at a disadvantage because of a voluntary, fun activity.

If I added all of my drive times onto each volunteer activity I have done and including overnight stays, I'd end up with almost 100 extra hours. Personally, this doesn't feel right to me. I counted the hours from the time I entered the building/event/whatever to the time I walked out the door. But as the previous poster said, do what you feel makes sense.

Yeah, I get that it does seem trivial, I guess. The way that I was thinking about it was more that admissions committees would be able to see how much time I took away from school and was still able to keep my grades up. Because with travel, etc, I have over 2000 hours committed to the group/taken away from school and studying. We traveled far and often, so it actually makes quite a numerical difference lol. I was just wasn't sure how admissions committees are thinking about it.

This is true. *sigh* I guess I was just thinking that admissions committees wanted to know how much time you sacrificed for your EC's. Ugh just so much time that I devoted to that group and now I can't even document it all
