I won't be applying for a while (summer '08 for c/o 2013), but I have been thinking recently of what extracurricular activities I am going to include on my AMCAS. I have some extraordinary volunteer hours (and most of my volunteer hours, in fact) are with my church. I am a volunteer Assistant Music Director, helped found the early morning praise team, play piano in the contemporary service, frequently perform as a soloist, directed a children's musical, volunteer at a nursing home (although affiliate with my church I could list this under the nursing home), volunteer with various local missions work (taking meals to shut-ins, helping elderly folks with home projects, etc.), and more that I can't think of right now.

Also I worked at a grocery store for the first two years of college (before I decided to apply to med school) and worked my way up pretty far in the company - I was the very first (and youngest) part-time Front End Manager ever within the company, although I also did customer service, accounting, pharmacy, and cashier.

Is there ample room on the AMCAS application to list all of these duties within one "activity?" Should I split them into smaller groups of activities? Or should I only include what I feel are the biggest/most important accomplishments within each organization?

Thanks in advance for the help and good luck to those with interviews coming up!

Okay. I guess that's good advice, although I'm sure you'll know how anxious this whole process can make you feel.

I can't wait until that May. I will have JUST graduated, my MCATs will have been over for 9 months, my personal statement will be written, and I can just "enjoy" the rest of the application process. I actually like applications and going for interviews. I think it's fun! Nerverwracking, but fun.

You get something like 1350 characters to describe each activity, if they haven't changed the forms. So it's quite a bit of space.
