does being a Biochemistry teacher's assistant (TA or IA) for a couple of semesters be a plus when applying for med schools. Also, over the summer, I helped a friend through his entire gen chem crash course. Literary, 5 days a week (2-3hrs/week) for about 2 months he could over my house for help. I helped him as a friend and also to review of my own gen chem. Can i list this as an extracurricular on my med school application? I also did 80+ in a hospital ER. will the med school actually call the hospital to double check when I list this as an extracur. In general, how do med. schools check the authenticity of the activity? thanks guys. woods........

No, I don't think they check the authenticity of your ec's. However, you will be asked at interviews about them, and if they weren't real or if you did them just to BUFF your application, I'm sure that many adcom members will be able to sniff this out. The other thing is that if they do verify your ec's and it turns out you made them up, that is grounds for dismissal from medical school, and they find this out pre-acceptance, then good luck getting into any medical school anywhere except University of Antartica School of Medicine.
