Do schools require some kind of proof of having participated in ECs? I ask because a lot of my ECs involve students only (tutoring, pre-health club, etc.) and I wouldn't have a professor able to write me a letter for those. Or do you just list them and schools pretty much take your word for it? How about volunteering in hospitals... do they require a letter stating the number of hours you volunteered from the hospital? Thanks.

I think it's pretty much your word; however, if they suspect anything, the school may attempt to verify. I don't think you need to worry about getting a letter for EC's unless asked.

I have numerous ECs and have never been asked about them

Same. Although, the schools will know if you are bullsh*ting them when they ask you questions about some of the activities you have listed.

From what I've heard...

ECs don't count for anything unless they ask you about them which is why listing 2 years pre-health club does nothing for you because they're not going to ask.

If you list "6 months in Zambia in health clinic" they're gonna ask you about it. So what you write is really unimportant, just gives them something to ask about. As long as its true, you'll have plenty to say.
