Good-morning all,
First post here! But just want to say I’m very grateful for this site for all the advice and resources it has provided me.

I go to a private Christian college where we are mandated to attend chapel. You only have X number you’re allowed to miss and are awarded a Pass or Fail at end of each term that does not count against your GPA. I just recently found out I have missed one to many and will therefore now receive an F on my transcript for chapel.

Could this possibly hurt my chances for med school?

Failed yoga in undergrad. Same problem, attendance. Nobody ever seriously held it against me, but I did have to explain it. Some thought it was pretty amusing.

Just have a story ready and you should be fine.

What would you say if an interviewer pressed you on why you didn’t fulfill an easy requirement for a class that literally just asked for you to show up?
It’s not gonna keep you out but I might be brought up in interviews so be ready for that.

i don't think chapel usually counts for GPA so it shouldn't matter and I doubt they'll pay attention to it, especially since chapel is usually freshman year and you'll have 3-4 years behind you by the time you apply. Baylor? I remember seniors being in our chapel because they failed a few years lol.

I received a subpar grade in racquetball. Due to attendance? Nope, was at every class.

Was due to my racquetball performance. Can you believe that?

These are the sort of stories that are so endearing to hear when I interview others, personally. They show humility as well as the shared bond of just plain stinking at something, but being willing to try something new.

I love talking about how bad I was in swimming class, because I couldn't learn how to dive to save my life. Weeks upon weeks of straight up belly flopping. Y'ouch!

The larger issue may not be the grade as much as the fact that it showed you were not committed or accountable with your responsibilities.

Be prepared how you learned from it and why you are sure this won’t happen again
