FA v.s Step up for step1

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I'm using both, actually. Step Up has a different approach so it fills in some holes for me.

I use both, but neither is "enough". FA is very good for mnemonics and memory work, Step up is very good for integration of systems

I love Step up!!!

It is much easier to read because it is like a story weaved in a system based form i.e. GI system pathology, physiology, bugs, drugs etc.

First Aid is like 500 random facts that are disjointed. The organization of the book is HORRIBLE. Even within a particular section like biochemistry there is no logical order. Granted, pathology in FA is in order but the "facts" are given to you without any background.

I say use both BOOKS. Read Step up to get a system approach and pick up the scraps using FA.

confused: Has anyone used Stepup (By Samir Mehta) for Step 1 ? All I read is about FA!

I actually have the first edition of Step Up (the Revised Reprint). Is that still ok to review a little after I'm done with FA or is the newer version that much better?

i am using step up and using FA as an "aid". looking up the systems as i go through step up. I like SU because it give more explainations. but few "flaws" 1) basic science part is weak--i am using HY with it. 2) for some of the dz, it doesn't tell exactly the treatment is. 3) i had to look up some of the histology and anatomy for path too. But i do like the fact that it's organ base so i can go through the system as sets and the story is more complete. Another thing that's good about it is the "quick hits" at the margin of SU. It correalates the secion you are looking at with something from another.. so keeps the whole story flows really well together.

anyway, i haven't taken my exam yet. so i don't know if what i am using is good enought for the boards. these are just a few things i feel about SU.

good luck
