Kind of a silly question, but would it be advised to remove any "questionable" photos or information on any of these websites? Every once in a while you hear a story about companies and/or schools looking up information and people not getting into a position because of it.

Joe

I've heard that as well. For the same reason, be mindful of what you say on this forum.

That does not make sense, how do they know who you are? You real name is not listed, and in my case there are hundreds of applicants from utah.

But dont they have your e-mail address. and most of the cases they also have your picture.

just be mindful of what you post on the internet. If you don't want other people to see something about you, don't post it! This applies to Blogs, MySpace, Facebook, etc. Also, take advantage of privacy features. Maybe change it so that only your friends can see your private info.

by now they have already found out everything they want to about you, I'm sure they have your phone tapped and a private eye following your every move. don't be so paranoid, or self centered do you really think dental schools are going to waste their time doing internet searches just for you?

That would be an awful lot of TheFacebook accounts for schools to check.

UNC asks for your webpage address. Too bad mine makes me sound like a lush, and I don't have access to it!

i don't know if you guys heard about this incident, but there was a student at Marquette's dental school, who was suspended from the school for a year because he made negative remarks in a blog about the school's faculty as well as students. Yes, the comments were made in a blog, and he was punished for it. So....be careful of what you say and be mindful of what you post on the internet.

And never pretend to be an asian chuck norris...that is anti american.

yes, and all dental schools are monitered by the CIA. make sure you shave off your beard before you go for an interview😛

facebook is very stalker-friendly lately... minifeeds = too much.

Just increase your privacy and security. Only let your friends look at your profile and pictures. Same on this forum... don't input your real name or ssn or anything that people can trace you with. That's just simple common sense.

Also, if you're scared of what you say on this forum don't leave your stats or any other information. Because then schools can easily say "okay he interviewed on this day supposedly and he has this GPA. he said something to offend us, let's not accept him"

However, I am sure that most schools have better things to do that check peoples Facebook albums and SDN forums.

So....be careful of what you say and be mindful of what you post on the internet.
I'm sorry, I didn't realize we lived in a communist society with no freedoms. I'm pretty sure its unconstitutional to punish someone for bad mouthing faculty online unless it was slander.

The real question is, when is SDN going to be like facebook and tell me when everyone changes their avatar or posts something or updates their predents.com profile.

Haha, I say let the idiots be idiots...we are working towards a very professional goal...we should know what to say and when/where to say it. It's just common sense...

my advisor just told me about a week ago that she is hearing things from other universities about facebook, and that some dental schools have access to it. she recomended that you take off anything racist, sexist, or classist. (or even anything somewhat related) She also thinks its not the best to have pics of your last keg stand.

I hope you're happy. You made me sufficiently paranoid to tear apart my wonderful TheFacebook profile.

I bet Dr.Jamie is in a room laughing to herself that she caused so much torture/anxiety amongst predents, contributing to the already highly volatile tension that has engulfed us in this application process

haha, guys, i'm not trying to scare you...thats just what she said..i guess schools have been "seeing things" so she just wanted to warn me. my plan is to load my facebook page with pictures of teeth, really interesting dental quotes....you know, what any normal college student likes.

I'm jumping in on the paranoia boat - I just took my last name off my MySpace file. I'm about to post some party pics and I wouldn't necessarily want the schools to see it, but I don't want to make it private. I figure they won't search through pages of [my name]s to find me. Unfortunately my page still shows up when I search my full name, but...maybe it just takes some time.

Let them see my facebook profile! I have no problem if they know that my favorite book is The Monk, my religion is Sith and that I absolutely hate people who wave the Confederate flag.
