sorry if this thread has already been posted somewhere but what does this ratio truly mean? how do you interpret the numbers given?

thanks so much!

Where are the numbers from? USNews?

I'm not sure it means much of anything. Probably just speaking to the students when you visit about what they think of the faculty is much more useful. This sort of info is helpful for college, I think, because it tells you something about what class sizes might be like in upper levels, how available faculty will be, etc. But I don't know what it would mean in med school. Is it just pre-clinical, or clinical as well? I don't know.

Thanks for responding Tigress....I did see it on USNews and was interested in how they calculated one school at a 0.9 student/faculty ratio. It just looked so odd!!
