Ok. So, we're here. We're old now. Our kids are already almost college age now. Many of you dentists may already have kids in college. Please help me manage my expectations. I'm guessing my kids won't qualify for any Pell grants, may not even qualify for subsidized or even unsubsidized loans. Have any of you had kids that actually qualified for student loans or Pell grants?

I never relied on govt loans or grants.. I started a 529 College Savings Plan for my two children. I started EARLY when my kids were just toddlers. I did not want to rely on the govt/state for help. I had enough in their funds to pay for all of their undergrad education. One of my children did well in high school and was awarded a small scholarship to attend a LOCAL state college. It helped. My kids fully understood that I would pay for their undergrad education. Anything past that .... they would be taking out loans. Kids need to have some skin in the game.
