Are we supposed to add all the schools we applied to on the FAFSA, or just the schools we interviewed at?

I would just add the ones you interview at and you can always add and delete later.

No, FAFSA for the 2017-2018 school year is not available until Jan 1, 2017.

just a side note - financial aid departments at medical schools will not want your information until you are definitely accepted (for the most part) and you won't be able to really fill out the FAFSA until you have your W-2s and tax returns from the previous year (which you won't be able to get until after Jan. 1). so the answer to that person's question is still - no this isn't something you should be worrying about right now.

EDIT - apparently the new FAFSA will want the previous years tax returns? So you can fill it out with 2015 information. so I guess you have the info, but to quote the financial aid department at one med school I interviewed at last year "Please don't send us your FAFSA until you get in. We don't know who you are until the admissions department gives us your name and that's how paperwork and information gets lost in the shuffle"

Lol. You learned a lot today 🙂 I read about this change a few months ago and it's supposed to really help students and their families. I've read some arguments against the changes, but I think it'll prove to be a wise decision.

Yeah, prior prior year is a thing now. Which makes everything a lot more convenient because let's face it. Who does their tax returns in January??

Usually schools will have financial aid sessions during interview days. You can either submit your FAFSA to them after you interview or wait until acceptance. They'll also ask for another application (commonly CSS Profile) if you want need-based aid and that requires money for each school you send it to so you save yourself a lot of work and money if you just send that after you get an acceptance.

I know at least at Carver (U of Iowa) they really stressed getting your FAFSA in ASAP. I'm not really sure why, but the financial person was big on saying you should get your FAFSA done within the next week.

Do med schools commonly give need-based aid? I have no idea; I paid straight cash every year.
