Now that the FAFSA is open should I be filling it out now, even though I don't yet know what school I'm going to? And if so should I just list the schools to which I have been accepted to? Will I be able to later add another school if I am accepted and decide to go somewhere else?

Also to my understanding all med students should fill the form out as independent, even if they were during college / are still financially reliant on their parents. Is this correct?

You will be applying for Graduate loans, and all will be considered independent for those. Best information is on FAFSA.gov
Send to the schools where you have acceptances, you can add more schools later if needed.

Great, thank you. Is there anything else that needs to be done as of now in regards to financial? Or do I just fill out fafsa and keep waiting until I know where I'll be going and speak to the financial aid department there?

That’s right. The amount you can borrow depends on the cost of attendance, which your med school’s FA office will tell you.

I got a reminder from my online tax service/program to make sure my contact information is entered and that my overall situation remains the same (family status, own/rent house, employment, etc.). If you don't have an offer, I would ensure this information still applies to you. Otherwise, you have to wait until you receive instructions from a financial aid officer at a school where you want to attend.
