I just found out I failed both exams in each of my math courses. The only saving grace is that I have marks high enough to redeem myself. If I bust my butt and do well on Exam #3 in both classes as well as my final exams, I could earn an "A" in both courses.

Right now I'm just feeling bummed. I could really use some reassurance and motivation. In my entire college career I've never experienced failure and it is a horrible feeling 🙁. For edification, my failure is not due to incompetence but due to absences and little time to master material.

Have any other of my high achieving peers experienced this hell? Just knowing I'm not alone would give me some solace.

Thanks guys!

My stats class grades:
Test 1: 74😱
Test 2: 100
Test 3: 96
Final: 100😎
Plus my quiz average of 87 replaced that 74 (which I didn't know would happen at the time). My point is, I found my problem and fixed it. You need to do the same. Where are you going wrong, is it not truly understanding the content? Not enough studying? etc. The only person holding you back from achieving good marks is yourself. I wish you the best of luck though.

Edit: Sorry, just skimmed your post and didn't see the reason (i.e. being absent. Slacking or legit?)
It's pretty obvious then, don't miss class!

Don't be absent.

You said it yourself in the OP. 🙂 Your motivation is that by doing well on Exam 3 and the final exams, you can get an A in both classes. That's pretty awesome for having failed two tests. Have you figured out why you didn't do so well? Clearly you've been a great student up until this point. Don't be too hard on yourself, everyone has crappy days/weeks/months. Just figure out what happened this time, and make sure it doesn't happen again. You'll be fine!

I got a D- in organic chem lab and still got in. I don't care to explain how it happened, but now I laugh at the scenario since I proved the grade was a fluke. Chin up. It happens. You just can't let it get to you.

Don't worry about it and just do your best. There's little you can do to change your grades, so all you can do is look towards the future. I've failed a test or two as well, but I changed my mindset and studied a lot harder and ended up with a decent gpa.

I got a 72 my first test of Chem II. All it did was work as a wake up call for me, which is sounds like your failing grades are doing for you. I busted my ass the rest of the semester and walked away with an A, so I wouldn't worry to much about it if you had identified the issue and are correcting it it is very very possible to come back and maintain your GPA.

My experience with Gen Chem

Test 1: 60
Test 2: 100
Test 3: 100
Final: 96

You just need to be pissed off enough to tell yourself that your much much better than the ****ty grade you just got.

It happens. Come back with a vengeance. You'll be fine.

I think you should listen to motivation by Kelly Rowland and Lil Wayne.

1. Do well on Exam 3.
2. Do well on Final.
3. ????
4. Profit

ha this is the worst place to find motivation. This forum is filled with hate 😛

Just keep reminding yourself that if you don't get the grades up you'll have pissed away your summer for nothing, and summer only comes like once or twice a year

This is my make or break week. I've got 2 exams this weeks and 2 finals the week after that but I feel confident. Wish me luck guys!

Haaaaard work. Do it to it.

We've all had our failures. Trust me. I've done less than satisfactory... just horribly. But I pulled myself up by the boot straps. Put your mind to it. If you want this, you will do it!
