OKay so i went to a meeting today and i was told that pharmacy schools look at ALL the classes youve taken regardless of whether you failed a class one time and got an A in it the next. Is this true? If so how do they calculate your gpa based on this? if so im pretty much screwed because i messed up my freshmen year, and recently started taking the classes over again and am currently doing very well. Depressing!🙁 Personally i find it really weird that they would take into a consideration something like this, some people may start off a little rockier and thus have to try a little harder, but in the end if the requirments are met and i have sufficient knowledge, it doesnt make much sense that classes i failed and then aced should even matter..

pharmCAS averages ALL of your grades. An F and an A equals a C average. Once your pharmCAS GPA is above the schools threshold, some schools will review your application and calculate their own GPA and will take the higher grade. Lots of topics on this if you want to do a search.

dammit, not what i wanted to hear 🙁 ive searched the forum and most the topics were for other graduate programs, wasnt sure if pharmacy was differnet, apparently not.. i guess my best bet is to call the schools im looking at and see how they handle it

MrLeaky...I'm in same boat as you...but what keeps me going is the fact that pharm schools look for an upward trend...you and I still have a good chance as long as we make up for it in the end.

Not all schools use pharmcas and some of those schools don't look at both grades. USN (southern nevada) takes the higher of the grades and they offer an academic forgiveness program that can really help students that are smart and would succeed in pharmacy school, but haven't always taken school seriously. Good luck.
