Hi. I failed the CPJE by just 1 point. Should I completely change my studying strategy and studying resources or should I just use the same resources and keep doing what I was doing?
Thanks.

If you failed by one point, you are on the right track. I know it is very disappointing and frustrating to fail by this little. Don't feel like you did something wrong. I failed the test a while ago. I will retake it in few weeks. I failed the patient medication section but passed the other two. Now I am studying the same way as before using same study materials but I am trying to memorize more brand name, dosing, monitoring parameters. This time around I'll try to memorize at least 500 brand names.
I don't know if this is the right way to approach your second attempt but this is what I am doing. Try to improve on that one section that got you to fail the test.

for patient medications i got a "low score". and patient outcomes i got a "very low score". i'm already a pharmacist too lol

what should i do to prepare?

I don't think being a pharmacist would help you much to pass this test. It is about cramming and memorizing a whole bunch of random information that you may not use it in the future. With a score of 50, you definitely need to increase your studying hours. Don't just rely on the law part to pass this test. Start studying again RxPrep, PNN, or whatever study materials you have and make your own notes. I use quizlet myself and per brand/generic, I add few important information about each drug. I like having my own notes vs using available notes online because I retain information better this way. Before your next attempt, use a Qbank and check your readiness (average scores 70-80+%). Now you have taken this test, you should know how it is like.

I cannot really tell you how to prepare. This test makes no sense. Just do your best.

thanks, good luck on your re-take

the CA board told me you get 1 year from the date you get your results to schedule a re-take, otherwise you need to submit a brand new application. i'm probably going to start preparing 6 months later. don't feel like paying a dumb $260 fee and hardcore studying so soon

I think it is 1 year from the date you got your ATT not after you get your results. You are going to pay the $260 fee either way.

Check the additional examination information
just saw that

yeah i'm gonna see what happens. i'm trying to get a definite date from the board now, e-mailing with them. i don't want to jump right into studying for this dumb exam for a second time

how long are you going to spend preparing? i'm probably going to need at least 2 months of intensive studying of the rxprep book to pass this. the exam is just too lame and specific. you literally need to memorize every bit of stupid info in the rxprep book which will take quite some time to lock it all down. really dumb

yeah thats what happened to me as well. For the second time I used rxprep+ pharmacy chart. Pharmacy chart is like a condensed version of rxprep so I can bring it to me whenever

I failed it by 1 point as well. I have received my eligibility to retake, but I am scared. How do you prepare for the exam this time?

How long did you take to study for the second time around? Did you use rxprep question bank? What about rxprep's cpje? Have you heard of question bank from pharmacyexam? Thank you in advance!

YouTube on cpje:

RxPrep CPJE is worth every penny! their question bank is really solid and the law review is clear, concise, and honestly all I used to study for law. I personally did not use Pharmacy Charts very much..the format made it hard for me to study from, just my opinion though. I highly recommend the CPJE Secrets study guide sold on eBay, it's expensive but has a lot of useful information specific to CPJE.

between studying harder or smarter, definitely study smarter! do all the practice exams and sample questions you can find, including the one posted on BOP website. study the test and find out what drugs/types of questions they like to ask, there's definitely a pattern! memorize brand/generic (beyond top 300), and don't forget OTC. it really is a random test, so as others have said, there's no set "what to focus on" or strategy.

This may be a dumb question, but how do you know how you scored on each specific section? I got my results back and it only has a number.
